I believe that makeup is extremely important in special effects, however to create an amazing overall film you need to be able to incorporate several different techniques.

Do you think a film could survive without any special effects in today's film world?
I think that one of the most important special effects used in film today is the use of green screens. As we can see, many of today's films are set in places that we could never imagine to be true. With the help of special effects, the audience is able to fully immerse themselves into a world that is both believable and breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteI feel as though films could be made without special effects, yet we wouldn't have spectacular films like Avatar without it.
I feel that make up is one of the strongest production effects other than lighting. Like in the show "Face off" a character can stand out significantly than it's counter parts due to emphaise of the make up. That's why I feel like The Lord of the Rings series was so successful in regards that it used little CGI effects for characters and focused on make up - especially for the orcs. As well, I believe that one of the reasons I enjoy shows like "The Walking Dead" is that again there is heavy emphaise on make up. It just goes to show that the more detail placed in natural effects like make up can make a big difference on screen in regards to realism.
ReplyDeleteI think that the teen generation has grown up with special effects such as green screen already in place, so without sfx they would find movies boring. The older generation, however, may be more interested in the drama and actual storyline rather than the explosions and superhuman powers. I believe the most important special effect is make up because it opens a whole new range of doors. For example, shows such as The Walking Dead or Teen Wolf would not have been possible to make without the intricate makeup work.
