The idea of 4D and the D-Box (having an actual experience with the movie such as moving seats) is growing to be a large fade and the next big thing in cinema.
Do you believe with the new addition of 4D and the D-Box that special effects will begin to minimize in films because filmmakers will begin to focus on physical experience over what the audience sees on screen?

  1. The problem is that D-Box is being used for films that were not meant to be experienced in 4D. It is tacked on as an after effect. It's an uncomfortable experience when you are trying to watch an action sequence and makes it especially hard to pay attention to what is on screen. Sometimes you get jolted to the side hard enough that you miss something you're supposed to have seen. In my experience, people always turn off their chairs within the first ten to twenty minutes.
I think perhaps the D-Box could be a seguay into something more immersive, physically. Eventually we'll probably be able to walk right into a movie and get a 360 degree view of it.
